A program “Together we solve social, legal, rehabilitation, social and cultural issues of physically challenged young people” took place in Lugansk Regional Palace of Culture (Pushkin Street, 2) on November, 28 at 10.30, within the bounds of which there was held the briefing of the officials of social and human rights organizations in Lugansk region with the participation of the physically challenged young people. The National Assembly of disabled people of Ukraine granted social and legal literature.

Organizers of the event were: the Department of family, youth and sport of Lugansk regional government administration, Lugansk regional Centre for sociocultural adaptation of physically challenged young people, Lugansk regional youth social organism “AMI–Vostok” with the assistance of the Regional charitable fund for regional investments support “Blagovest”, Lugansk region fund department for social security of disabled people, Lugansk regional Palace of Culture, the Department of transport and telecommunications of Lugansk regional government administration (we are grateful for comfort and attention!), Inter-regional centre of professional, medical, physical and social rehabilitation of disabled people, Lugansk town centre of rendering social service, Lugansk regional centre of social rehabilitation of handicapped children “Vidrodzhennya”, private enterprise “Provisions’ factory Anzhey”, Lugansk refrigerating works “Korolewskoye morozhenoye”.

About 200 young people from such towns as Lugansk, Perwomaysk, Rubezhnoye, Popasnaya. Stakhanow, Antratsit, Slawyanosebsk, Zolotow, Alchewsk, Petrowskoye, Starobel’sk, Krasniy Luch, urban village Frunze took part in the event. They never left the bounds of their towns and are in urgent need of consulting help, visiting sociocultural programmes, friendly support, meeting new interesting people. In addition participation in the event gave these young people an opportunity to see wonderful concert numbers prepared by boys and girls with the same health problems, and become self-assured and believe in their own strength.

Not the least of the fact was that among the guests there were students of Lugansk T. Shevchenko National Pedagogic University, who acquire a profession of “social work”. For these students visiting such programmes is like the first step towards one of the most humane and needed professions.

It is worth mentioning that programmes similar to the one that was held can be truly called not only important, but also unique. Young people with health problems often either don’t seek help from competent authority, or (in most cases) aren’t aware of the fact whom they can ask for help, to which expert they can appeal, at what address and telephone number. That is why the organized briefing was vitally important. The officials of social organizations gave the participants of this event consultation concerning different problems of healthcare, education, protection of people with disability, organizing cultural leisure-time and creative self-actualization, usage of special transport.

At the end of this briefing, there was a magnificent concert prepared by physically challenged children and creative teams of Lugansk regional Palace of Culture.

A pleasant ending of the arrangement was the entertainment received from charitable fund “Blagovest”, “Korolewskoye morozhenoye” and handing of different gifts to all the guests!

“We hear you, we know about your problems, we aspire to help you!”–it was the motto of the past event, which we’d like to believe will be not only a call to action but directly to a real support and help for those who terrifically need it!”
